End of Week 1

Week 1 ended with a bang. Literally. There were fireworks to celebrate Bondstock, which is a week long celebration of the second week of school :). There is a fashion show, comedy show, concerts, secret location party, free bbq, concerts and all other sorts of fun activities. Last Friday I made it down to the beach again. It was so cold and windy haha. We got a ride down the beach with one of our friends, but for the way back we had to walk. It took about 45 minutes and it was terrible. We had to walk by the side of the road in the hot sun. I was in a group of 6 girls so we got honked at the entire way back! We could have taken a bus, but it takes about an hour and you have to get off and transfer. It was all just too confusing. Next time I will for sure find another ride there. It was a pretty walk and there are some really nice houses in the area but walking for an hour in sandy flip-flops is not too enjoyable. Friday night we went down to the local restaurants, which is on the south side of campus. We found ourselves at Hotel CBD, which is a nice restaurant and hotel, but it was definitely an older adult scene. On Saturday we went out to Surfers Paradise and met an Australian Football League team and talked about the differences between US and Australia. Australians love Obama and none of the Americans I am with like him, so there have been some heated debates about him. Sunday we all got our homework done and laid outside. It was so hot! We have had our air conditioning on all day! I have one more class today and then have to do homework and figure out the rest of my trips and scheduling! I bought my ticket to Cairns this afternoon and cant wait for that trip!! We are heading to Fraser Island this weekend! I am so excited! We are leaving bright and early on Friday morning @ 7am!
