Finally I have arrived!

I am finally in Australia. It has been a crazy week filled with tons of travel and exhaustion! After getting on the 15 ½ hour plane ride, which turned out to be 17 hours, because our plane was over heating, and someone was taken off and quarantined haha, we finally made it to Melbourne! We drove into the city and had a delicious lunch and at cute little restaurant called vibe. Being a group of 20 year olds we all order drinks and had some delicious wine. After lunch we heading back on the bus and headed out to Sorrento, a cute little beach town. It is said to be like the Hamptons of southern Australia. It was FREEZING at the beach. We went exploring and found some really awesome shells and sea creatures! We were so tired by the time we got done with our walk, but our group leaders didn’t want us to take a nap, so instead they made us listen to them talk for about 2 hours. After we got some dinner and a hot shower we all went to bed early, 9 pm!! I slept like a baby!! In the morning we got up and had some more talks, another walk on the beach and got to explore Sorrento. We ate lunch at a quaint little pizzeria!! That night we had more talks about Australia and 8 of us found out that we had two suites of 4 each and that we were very lucky to have them, and we ARE!!! On Sunday morning we went into the wild and found some kangaroos!! They were so awesome! We saw tons of them!! The alpha male was huge!!! It was cool to see them just bouncing around, later in the semester we will get to actually pet them, but these ones were wild so we stayed far away!
After another long bus ride we made it back into Melbourne and got to explore the city. We had 5 hours to wonder around and see what Australia’s second largest city is like. It reminded me of San Francisco. Australia is so much like the US its crazy!! They have target, so naturally we had to check it out! It was awesome. They have like everything here!!! On Sunday night we were given the night off and we went to one of the local Casino’s and found ourselves buying closed toed 40$ shoes just to get in. It was a little outrageous but we had a fun time!! Monday morning bright and early we got on a plane, and made our way to BOND! The whole group was so antsy to get to bond. When we got to campus there was no one there, we got dropped off by our bus in the wrong place, and had to walk with two very heavy bags to the other side of campus. Needless to say we were not happy at all about that!!
We got all checked into our rooms and made our way around campus to see what Bond Uni is like. Seriously it could be a resort. The architecture is very modern and there is a waterfall that is at the main entrance that leads to a small lake that is rumored to be filled with bull sharks!! I have yet to see one. Tuesday and Wednesday were casual days. We just explored campus, bought cell phones, signed up for class, went shopping at the closest mall, and finally unpacked!!
Today, Thursday, we tried to go to the beach but by the time we got around to it, it was 315 and getting cold and cloudy out. So instead we went to the pool on campus and sat in the hot tube, which should be called the not-so-hot-hot-tub, because it was freezing. It was like sitting in cold bath water, not fun! Ha. Tonight we are venturing out to Surfers paradise, which is like Miami beach. Bond has buses that will take us there and we can grab a cab ride home. Tomorrow we are hoping to go to the beach if it is warmer outside and if not we will find something fun to do. There are so many activities to do around here and so many people to do them with that we never seem to be bored! It is even hard to find time to write on my blog! But I will try and update it as much as possible.
Bottom line, Australia is absolutely wonderful, I wouldn’t trade this experience for anything in the world, and everyone should try and travel here at least once in their life ☺
